Ornamental Bed Weed Control:

Save valuable time this spring and summer by not spending hours pulling weeds!

In the upcoming months, Virginia Green will be completing Ornamental Bed Weed Control applications. In this program, a granular application of pre-emerge herbicide, along with a spraying of a non-selective post-emergent herbicide is done to treat weeds that are present, and to keep new weeds from appearing.

This treatment is safe for ornamental and bedding plants and with proper mulching will last from six to seven months. Virginia Green recommends this treatment twice a year, once in the spring and once in the fall to keep your bedded areas beautiful and weed-free.

Please click here or call our office at (804) 285-6200 for more information.

For new customers that sign up for our Ornamental Bed Weed Control program, we are offering 50% off if you sign up for two treatments this year.

VIRGINIA GREEN PROPERTY OF THE MONTH!
We are very excited to announce a new program at Virginia Green lawn care called Virginia Green property of the month.

During the months of March through December, each technician will have the opportunity to nominate one property from his/her route to be entered into the drawing for property of the month. A picture of the property will be taken and judging will be done by the management staff.

The winning property owner will receive a $50.00 credit toward future services, a sign to be displayed in their yard, and with their approval, a photo of the property will be posted on our website as well as in the newsletter.

So spruce up your lawn and make sure that it is photo ready. You never know when your property may be the winner.

MOWING TIME STARTS SOON!
It is important this time of year to prepare your lawn mower for the upcoming season. Change the oil, sharpen the blade, replace the spark plug, and raise the deck to it's highest setting.

This setting should never be less than three inches (ideal mowing height for tall fescue is 3.5") measured with a ruler. This high setting encourages healthy grass growth while reducing weed infestations and water usage.

Mowing fescue short weakens the grass, invites weeds and disease, and requires more water. To measure the setting height, move the mower to a hard, level surface such as the driveway, and with a ruler, measure the distance from the hard surface to the bottom of the blade. Remember to disconnect the spark plug whenever working under the mower to prevent the possibility of the mower starting.

Mowing should not be necessary until the grass starts growing and reaches a height of 4" to 4.5" (never more than 1/3 of the total grass blade length as this could cause potential harm).

TREE AND SHRUB NEWS:
Virginia Green will soon be starting the second application in our Tree and Shrub program. This liquid application consists of a balanced fertilizer with micro-nutrients and provides all the necessary plant food to promote healthy plant growth. The fertilizer is injected directly into the root zone of the plant, placing it where the plant can benefit immediately and eliminate the slow response from granular fertilizer placed on top of the mulch.

If you are not currently on our Tree and Shrub program and would like us to provide a free estimate, please click here or call our office at (804) 285-6200 for more information.

For new customers that sign up for our Tree and Shrub program, we are offering 25% off of the first treatment!
