Has this weed been a problem for you every spring?
It is call Poa annua, and Virginia Green Lawn Care offers a supplemental treatment for this grassy weed. Due to the life cycle of this weed, treatment needs to take place in late November or early December. LEAVES CONTINUE TO FALL
 Last week’s soaking rain served to remove a lot of leaves from the trees in our area, and deposit them on the lawns. For the health of your lawn we suggest removing these fallen leaves as quickly as possible, and keeping the yard as leaf free as possible. This will allow the maximum amount of sunlight to reach the turf.
TIME TO HAVE YOUR IRRIGATION SYSTEM WINTERIZED
We have gotten some nice rain this last week, and although we are still behind in overall rainfall amounts for the year, the lawns are seeing the benefits. The remaining treatment for this year, for those customers that have not yet received it, does not have to be watered in. Therefore you can safely call your irrigation company to have your system shut down for the year and winterized. For those customers that use hoses to water, we suggest that you drain them, roll them and store them indoors to protect them from freezing.
TREE AND SHRUB APPLICATION NUMBER 8
Virginia Green Lawn Care will begin applying Tree and Shrub application #8 to those customers that subscribe to our Tree and Shrub Program. This application consists of horticultural oil which will suffocate over wintering insects such as mites and scale. If you have had a problem with over wintering insects in the past we suggest that you contact our office for more information on our Tree and Shrub Program at (804)285-6200 or (757) 258-1788.
PRE-PAY DISCOUNT MAILING FOR 2010 WILL BE GOING OUT SOON
In the upcoming month Virginia Green Lawn Care will be mailing out our annual pre-payment letter to our customers. This letter confirms the program and services that each customer is receiving, as well as offering a discount for those that wish to pre-pay for their services for 2010.
