LEAVES ARE FALLING EVERYWHERE!
One of the biggest obstacles that Virginia Green Lawn Care faces this time of year is leaves that cover the lawns. You need to make sure that you get the leaves up off of your lawn as quickly as possible. If you have recently seeded your lawn these leaves could inhibit the growth of the new seedlings. For recently seeded lawns Virginia Green suggests using a blower to remove the leaves, getting low to the ground and blowing the leaves off in a motion that is horizontal to the ground. We suggest that you do not aim the blower down directly onto the lawn as you run the risk of blowing that seed, and increase the risk of the seed ending up in your bedded areas. We do not suggest raking a newly seeded lawn as you can damage the new seedlings.

Virginia Green Lawn Care has begun applying Application #7 this week. This will be a liquid application of weed control and fertilizer to help with the winter weeds that are beginning to appear, and to winterize the lawn. As this is a liquid application, the fewer leaves on your lawn at the time of service the better. In order to prepare for this treatment Virginia Green will be contacting our customers to inform them of the upcoming treatment to insure that these leaves are up.

CHRISTMAS GIFT?
Are you looking for ideas for that person on your Christmas list that is hard to buy for? Why not give them the gift of a beautiful, healthy, green lawn. Christmas is next month, and if you contact Virginia Green Lawn Care now we can measure the lawn and follow up with you, leaving nothing at the property. This is a great gift idea that the recipient can enjoy all year long. Call our office today to learn more about this great gift idea.

SOME HELPFUL FALL TIPS!
If you haven’t already contacted your Irrigation Company we suggest that you contact them to schedule an appointment to winterize your system. Virginia Green suggests leaving your system active until around Thanksgiving. With the warm fall days that we often have, this will allow you the option to continue to water those beautiful lawns, in the absence of rainfall.

Now is a good time to plant spring bulbs such as crocus, daffodils and tulips. You may also want to cut back perennials after they show browning from the first frost. Thick clumps of perennials can also be divided and used to fill in other areas. Any annuals that have finished flowering can also be removed.
