SEPTEMBER VIRGINIA GREEN PROPERTY OF THE MONTH WINNER!
The winning property for September 2009 was submitted by the Peaks family of Chester Virginia. The Peaks began service with Virginia Green Lawn Care on our Estate Lawn Care program in 2008.
Along with his submission Mr. Peaks commented that "whenever someone asks why my lawn looks so good I simply refer them to Virginia Green." As the winning submission, they will receive a $50.00 credit toward a future lawn care visit, and their technician Lance will also receive a gift card. We appreciate all submissions, and look forward to seeing the results of the hard work of our technicians, as well as the homeowners. Keep up the good work, and keep submitting those photos to property@virginiagreenlawncare.com

AERATION AND OVERSEEDING SEASON IS GOING WELL!
We are now well into the 2009 Aeration and Overseeding season and weather conditions have certainly been working in our favor. The recent rain showers have been nice however we cannot rely on these showers alone to nurture our new seedlings. The new seedlings need to remain moist for the first 21 days after seeding so we suggest watering twice daily, once in the morning, and once in the afternoon. We leave detailed instructions with each customer that aerates and overseeds with us, however if you have lost these instructions you will find a link to them on the home page of our website www.virginiagreenlawncare.com.
We will continue to provide this service to customers throughout October, and we still have a good number of weeks ahead of us with good seeding weather. If you have signed up for aeration and overseeding with Virginia Green you will receive an email notification prior to the date, informing you of the schedule date, as well as information for preparing your yard.

WEEDS MAY BE APPEARING IN YOUR LAWN AGAIN.
Winter annual weeds have certainly germinated this fall along with the grass seedlings. This is due to cool temperatures and excess moisture. Bitter cress, henbit, wild garlic, and other winter annuals are present in just about all of the lawns. This is a normal situation and we expect weeds to grow in the lawn. Once Virginia Green starts spraying Lawn Care application number seven, these weeds will disappear. This will be the last application of the year and will include weed control and fertilizer. If you have seeded your lawn, please continue to water several times per week, more in areas with full sun or slopes.
