MOWING HEIGHT DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE
If you are a customer that has been with Virginia Green for a while you know that we take every opportunity to stress to our customers the importance of mowing height. Virginia Green Lawn Care suggests setting your mower on its highest setting for the benefit of your lawn. Mowing your lawn at 3½ to 4 inches is ideal. Taller mowing heights increase the root system and decrease weed populations. It also reduces the water usage which is important especially in the hot weather.
At this time of year you should also be watering your lawn consistently. Grass requires 1 to 2 inches of irrigation per week and we cannot rely solely on intermittent rain showers to get sufficient water to the lawn. Virginia Green suggests watering 2 to 3 times of week, with .75” to an inch of water with each session. Without sufficient water, grass plants cannot survive a summer drought.
