WE NEED RAIN!
We have erased a surplus of water in three weeks, and we are now two inches behind in year to date totals. Please take time to water your lawn, especially after an application (follow the watering instructions on the leave behind sheet). Lawns are quickly turning yellow and brown and will take weeks to recover. Our Service Managers as well as our Territory Managers have all commented on the number of lawns that they are servicing that are in need of additional irrigation, and it is affecting the overall health and look of the lawns.
Virginia Green Lawn Care suggests watering 2 to 3 times a week with an output of .75 to 1” of water with each session. It is difficult to equate this to an amount of time to water as each system, as well as each lawn is different. If you are unsure of how much water is being put out in a watering session we suggest placing a shallow pan or tuna can out in a couple of the zones. If, when the watering session is finished, there is not an inch of water, you should increase the amount of time for that zone.
BLUEGRASS AND FESCUE IN LAWNS IS SEEDING!

What they are actually seeing is the Kentucky Bluegrass, and Fescue grass in lawns is going through the natural seeding process right now and it appears as a seed head on top of the blade of grass. This is natural and not anything to be concerned about. We will only see this for another week or so, and the seeds that fall will be reintroduced into the lawn.
