BERMUDA SUPPRESSION APPLICATIONS TO BEGIN NEXT WEEK

Our lawn care programs are designed to improve the overall health of the lawn, while controlling weeds and crabgrass; however we often receive calls from our customers regarding unwanted grasses in their yards such as Bermuda grass.  Virginia Green Lawn Care has a Bermuda Suppression program designed for lawns that contain a good stand of fescue grass, with small areas of Bermuda grass (commonly called wire grass) mixed in.  This is a four application program with two spring applications, and two in the fall.  These applications, combined with aeration and overseeding of the lawn in the fall, and proper mowing habits, will weaken the Bermuda grass and allow the fescue to out compete the unwanted Bermuda grass.  Virginia Green will be applying the first of the two Spring Bermuda suppression applications to lawns next week.  If you feel that this program would be beneficial to your lawn and you would like more information and pricing, please contact our office and we will have an associate inspect the lawn and follow up with you. 

Mowing height also helps with the suppression of Bermuda grass.  It is critical to keep your lawn mowed on the tallest setting all summer.  If your mower does not mow at a height over three inches, Virginia Green recommends replacing the mower.  Fescue maintained at four inches will naturally eliminate Bermuda grass in most lawns.
