VIRGINIA GREEN LAWN CARE WOULD LIKE TO WISH A HAPPY
MOTHERS DAY TO ALL OF OUR CUSTOMERS!
ARE
YOU SEEING THIS IN YOUR YARD?

It is the time of year
when many of our technicians and service managers are
seeing Poa Annua in yards. This is not a weed but it is
a grass in the bluegrass family, and is seeding right
now. Since this is a grass, it is not controlled by the
weed control applications in our lawn care programs,
however Virginia Green can treat this with a
supplemental treatment in late November. If you have any
questions about Poa Annua, or would like to schedule
this supplemental treatment for your lawn, please
contact our office and we will be happy to assist you.
WATERING INSTRUCTIONS
Now that we are having
some consistent warmer weather in our area it is time to
begin consistent watering of your lawn. For the health
of your turf your lawn should receive 1 to 1 ½ inches of
water per week, and generally the sporadic spring
showers that we receive do not provide the needed amount
of moisture. Watering in the morning, prior to 9 a.m. is
the most beneficial time for watering.
APRIL LAWN OF THE MONTH WINNER

Virginia Green Lawn Care is pleased to announce the
Steepleton family of Richmond as the April Lawn of the
Month winners. The Steepleton’s began service with
Virginia Green this time last year on our Premium Lawn
Care program and their lawn is looking beautiful,
healthy, and green. Along with this recognition the
Steepleton family will receive a $50.00 credit toward a
future treatment with Virginia Green Lawn Care, and
their technician Mark will receive a gift card. Thank
you to the Steepleton’s for nominating their property,
and the competition was fierce as always. If you feel
that your property is deserving of the title Virginia
Green Lawn of the Month please submit an email to
property@virginiagreenlawncare.com, with a current
digital photo of your property as an attachment. We will
be happy to include your submission in the voting for
that month. We look forward to receiving your
submissions.
VIRGINIA GREEN LAWN CARE WILL BE ON WATCH FOR
LAWN DISEASES AS THE MONTH PROGRESSES
With the onset of warmer,
more humid, days and evenings in our area, our staff is
on the lookout for the first signs of lawn diseases in
our area. For those customers on our Estate Lawn Care
program, the three applications of fungicides to protect
lawns against disease, will begin once we see the
conditions appear, usually toward the end of the month.
If you are on our Premium Lawn care program and start to
see signs of lawn disease (brown lesions on the leaf
blade), or would like to switch to the Estate Lawn care
program to protect your lawn prior to disease
development, please contact our office and we will be
happy to provide you with additional information, as
well as pricing for your lawn.
